The Derby Rotten Scoundrels (a Kentucky-based chapter of Sisters in Crime) have released a new anthology of mysteries and feature articles based on Kentucky's signature liquor: bourbon. I've contributed a new Nessa Donnelly short story to this collection, and it also includes the first Three Snowbirds story that Sarah Glenn and I wrote.
Mystery and Horror, LLC is currently running a giveaway for the anthology. You have until July 21, 2020 to enter the drawing for a free print copy of Mystery with a Splash of Bourbon. Pop over and register your entry today!

Sarah and I are pleased to announce that we're on blog tour this month. We've partnered with Lori Caswell and have a number of guest spots and reviews that will be posted over the next couple of weeks. Please visit the sites and join in the fun. Be sure to scroll down at our promo page at Escapes with Dollycas to discover all the ways you can submit multiple entries for the book giveaway.
We're really pleased with the reviews of our new novel, Murder at the Million Dollar Pier. Christine Gentes of Map Your Mystery described it as "A riotous adventure featuring three gutsy characters." Doward Wilson of Kings River Life said, "This was a delightful and fun read." One of the early Amazon reviews said that "the action, and the glam, comes at a fast, jazzy clip." If you've read the novel, please share your opinion with us. If you haven't read it, the novel is free on Kindle Unlimited. We'd appreciate your feedback! Coming in February 2020: learn more about Cornelia, Teddy, Uncle Percival, and their authors with Great Escapes!
If you enjoyed Murder on the Mullet Express, you will be pleased to learn that the sequel, Murder at the Million Dollar Pier, will be coming out this September. Our intrepid snowbirds from the first novel, Cornelia Pettijohn, Teddy Lawless, and Uncle Percival, arrive in Saint Petersburg, Florida, and take lodgings in the then-new Vinoy Hotel. Uncle Percival selected the hotel for its excellent view of the construction on the Million Dollar Pier, but when Teddy Lawless sees her ex-fiance in the dining room, trouble follows.
Like the first novel, this one will be published by Mystery and Horror, LLC. ![]() The next event I will be attending is Bouchercon 2018, which will be held at the Vinoy Renaissance St Petersburg Resort. The location is practically in my back yard, and it's a beautiful, historic one. Bouchercon is an enormous mystery and crime fiction festival held annually. Both fans and authors attend the conference, and it's a great place to meet people you've admired from afar. Sarah Glenn and I will both be attending, as will several members of the different Sisters in Crime chapters we belong to. I'm looking forward to catching up with my friends from Kentucky. Sarah and I were part of the crew at the Florida Writers Association booth for the festival. It was held on the USF campus in downtown St. Petersburg. It was nice to see so many authors in one place.
The people overseeing the 2018 Bouchercon Mystery Convention also had a booth. Expect to see us there! This was a busy summer. Sarah and I toured the Tampa Bay area with Murder on the Mullet Express, meeting new people and generally having a good time. On August 5th, we won the silver at the Florida Authors & Publishers Association President’s Awards. We saw many familiar faces from the book fairs we’ve attended this year, including other members of our Sisters in Crime chapter. It’s very rewarding to have the work we put into the book recognized by our peers.
Writers in attendance will include:
